Freelancing as a Director
I don’t usually post much here, but thought I’d drop a quick update. Working as a Director freelance in the Midlands can be slow at times. I’m attached to direct several things I can’t talk about much yet (one of them is an upcoming horror anthology). It’s all very exciting but these things take time and so I’m often in-between jobs. So I’ve been using this time and space to develop my skills in post-production - mostly VFX and compositing.
This last year or so I’ve done a large number of VFX for shorts, commercials and most recently a feature film. There’s a few examples spread across my website, so be sure to check those out. More coming soon as I get around to updating everything. I’m working across a number of programs including Blender, AE and Resolve. Each one has it’s own quirks and advantages, but combined, they can be really powerful.
In other news, be sure to check out the latest Hunger Games prequel. Why? Because our very own Tom Blyth from Wash Club makes an appearance as one of the leading roles. I couldn’t be happier for Tom - he’s an amazing talent. It feels surreal seeing an actor I’ve worked with on billboards and the side of buses but I’m certain we’re going to be seeing a lot more of him. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Wash Club here.
